Famous Female Golfers: Karri Webb

Golf is one of the more unisex sports available -- one where men and women (and sometimes even husbands and wives!) can comfortably compete against each other, and with practice and a well chosen course for your golf trip, each has an equal chance of winning. Today we start a series looking at the lives and times of some famous female golfers, starting with one that most of us are familiar with -- a current champion, Karri Webb.
Background
Karri Webb was born in Ayr in Queensland, Australia, in 1974, which makes her 36. Ayr is a hot, tropical place and si a very small town, so it is unsurprising that Karri got into an obscure sport (for young females) like golf.
Major Championships plays
Karri's most famous tournaments have been the 2001 LPGA Championship and the 2000 and 2001 US Women's Open. She also played the Women's British Open in 2002, the du Maurier Classic in 1999 and the Kraft Nabisco Championship in 2000 and 2006.
General info
Karri is a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame, and won the Vare Trophy for a low-scoring average in 1997, 1999 and 2000. In 1996, Karri Webb became the first ever player to surpass $1 million in single-season earnings on the LPGA Tour. She was the first rookie to surpass the hallowed $1m mark on LPGA, also.
Currently…
Karri is still playing as hard as ever! In fact, though her win ratios have dropped off significantly, she is playing in as many events now as she was in 1996. So don't think that you are getting to old to take on a golf package vacation … it's never too late to have a go! 2006 was one of her most impressive recent years, with 5 wins out of the 20-odd championships she played. However she regularly still places in the top 10, and she gets a couple of second places per year - enough to keep her going with the career she loves best.
And whether you're at the top of the field or not, wouldn't you love to get paid any amount to play Ireland golf and worldwide golf, all year round, instead of going to work every week?!

4 Top-Reviewed Utility and Hybrid Clubs

If you're going on a golf trip, chances are you'll be pulling these clubs out of your bag more than any other. Drivers are important for confidence (and also for a bit of mild intimidation on whomever you are playing with!), but utility and hybrid clubs are just great all-rounders. Today we check out the five clubs that get the best reviews.
Cobra 2008 Baffler DWS Utility with Graphite Shaft
Reviewers say this club comes out of the long grass extra well. It has a dual weighting system to enhance moment of inertia, and a centre of gravity so low and deep that if they improve the club anymore, it will be underground! It has a great large face area, and a fastback crown design.
Wilson Fybrid Utility
It's not at the cheaper end of the scale. But if you're willing to let reviews guide your choice of clubs for a golf vacation, it's at the highly, highly desirable end of the scale! These are said to be more comfortable than the Nikes, Ping and Callaway hybrids.. One reviewer says this has effectively replaced his 5W, and his 3, 4 and 5I, and has still had a great experience.
Taylormade Raylor Rescue with Graphite Shaft
If you want to use your Arizona golf vacation to really improve your game, you might as well give yourself a head start with this club. For those who usually slice or push the ball with clubs more than 8I, this will be a key factor in getting your ball to go just where you want it to! If the other clubs aren't cheap, this one won’t ease your budget either … but perhaps you can build the cost into your golf trip!
Nike SQ Sumo Hybrid with Graphite Shaft
Another club that everybody says helps immensely with their consistency. I think there are a lot of golfers out there who blame themselves or their inexperience for an inconsistent game. Obviously a good workman won’t blame his tools for a bad job - however in the case of golf, there are so many stories of games immediately improving by half a dozen shots that you simply can’t ignore the power of the club. The Nike Sumo is on special at various places around the net currently … look around and you should get a nice surprise on the price tag!
